Local name: Eastern Redbud
Eastern Redbud. This is a small to medium-sized tree that usually grows like a shrub. The tree flowers on its bare stems from April to May. The magenta pink coloured flowers sometimes even appear on he trunk itself! The leaves are a stunning dark purple. Prospers well in a sheltered habitat protected from the wind. The soils should be moist and well drained. Extremely winter hardy.
